You’d Like to Support Woodstock Early Bird…

Good Afternoon, Woodstock Early Birds!

This “hyperlocal” online news venture needs your support. We’ve been writing for a year now, providing you with coverage of municipal meetings, traffic and weather news alerts, critical emergency information and always random photos, opinions and slices of life from Woodstock, Vermont.  We also provide a forum via our comments sections for you to voice your thoughts about issues large and small. This is how we create community.

In the past year, we have gained notice from The Valley News and The Rutland Herald for our work. We are used as a source by local TV stations. Not bad for a blog that began with about 200 folks a month checking in. Now we garner as much as 20,000 folks a month.

There are approximately 600 of you who now subscribe to news email alerts. We know that means you often get to say (proudly!) that you know something NEW and something FIRST because, “I read it on Early Bird!”

We enjoy keeping you up-to-date and would like to go right on doing that.

Some say Woodstock Early Bird serves as an online “Town Crier” to keep you in the know.  While we all get plenty of news about Vermont, New Hampshire and the World  from many respectable newspapers, radio and online sources, Woodstock Early Bird is the ONLY one that provides up-to-the-minute news alerts to your phones, Ipads and laptops about what’s going on right here, right now, in little ‘ole Woodstock.

We’d like to alert you to a new button on this online news blog. It is a PayPal donation button. You see it above on this post and you should find it on the side of the page as well. You do not need to be a PayPal member to use to the form to DONATE using your credit card.  Give it a try!

How LOCAL is LOCAL? If you support other  “local” news outlets with contributions or subscriptions, ask yourself if you are getting all the news you want to know?

Woodstock Early Bird was started  as a way to provide and to fill the information gap between what’s “out there” and what’s “right now.”

If you don’t want to get involved with PayPal, we appreciate your check, too:

Thanks for feeding the Woodstock Early Bird!

Suggested donation amounts would be helpful…we all need some direction! How about different level categories like “Sparrow”, “Jay”, “Duck”, “Goose”, “Flamingo”, “Vulture”, “Hawk” (potentially too political), “Eagle”, “Condor”, and “Pterodactyl” (a bit dated)?

    • These are great names for sponsor levels! Thanks for the idea…

In the meantime, for Woodstock Early Birds who are able…might we suggest a “Red Cardinal” level of $10 per month which comes to $120 a year.

In real terms that covers one month of internet and phone connectivity for Woodstock Early Bird “Ops”.

We also appreciate the “Sparrow” level of $25 or the “Robin” level of $50.

Pay as you can is a measure of support as well for which we are most appreciative!

We all remember the coverage during Irene, particularly when we were still in the response phase. From my perspective, our water conservation efforts when the aqueduct system was compromised never would have happened without Early Bird’s information, updates and reminders. It was a tough time for us, still brings tears to my eyes, thank you Julia!
