Thieves Smashing Car Windows In and Around Village

Woodstock Police are asking for the public’s assistance in apprehending those who may be breaking into cars both in the Village and nearby:

Woodstock Police Department Press Release

On July 25, 2012 between the hours of 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm two vehicles parked, in the Frost Mills Free Parking Area, had windows smashed out and items stolen from inside the vehicle.

Woodstock PD is looking for any witness that may have been in the area and seen any suspicious activity. Please call Officer Jen Hutchins at 802-457-1420.

Woodstock Police would also encourage citizens to lock your vehicles and keep all valuable items out of sight. It is also suggested that citizens report any suspicious persons or vehicles seen loitering in the Frost Mills parking area.

We should also add that Woodstock Police report someone stole a wallet out of a vehicle after smashing through the window while the vehicle was parked at the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park “Mt. Tom” trailhead off of Prosper Road.  This was a few days ago.

Police Chief Robbie Blish says in that case the car was locked but a wallet was left on the car seat. There are no suspects in that case. Blish says another car parked nearby was not broken into.

As the press release above reminds people, don’t make your car an unnecessarily easy target. Lock your doors and leave nothing of value visible.
