Suspected Bank Robber Apprehended

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 1/17/2013 the Hartford Police Department responded to the People’s United Bank on Maple Street in Hartford for a reported robbery. Evidence was found and several leads were developed during this investigation.

On 1/18/2013 contact was made with 50 year old John Fenley of Hartford, VT at which time his vehicle was seized. Later this day Fenley was arrested for allegedly being involved in the robbery at People’s United Bank and a previous attempt on the same day at the Mascoma Savings Bank on Sykes Mountain Avenue. During the course of the investigation several hundred dollars of stolen money from the bank was seized from Fenley’s possession. A search warrant was executed on Fenley’s home where over two thousand dollars of stolen money was seized as well as clothing that matched the clothing worn by the bank robber.

Fenley was lodged in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court for 1/22/13 at the Windsor Superior Court- Criminal Division.

An additional arrest is forthcoming in this investigation.
