Flurry-Ish Snow Blocks Set on the Village Green

snow sculpture

We found Adrian Tans and Jarvis Green (with friends) putting together snow blocks this morning on the Village Green. These blocks will be carved into artistic structures as part of what was to be a much larger Flurry Festival this weekend, but due to limited snow, will simply be ” Hey, look at those cool sculptures” kind of event.

Organizer Tans says some artists from Rutland will be coming over to work on one of the blocks as well as some of last year’s snow sculpture winners. Tans will also be creating something out of snow, although he says he doesn’t have a plan yet. In the past, he has made a small mock-up of his intended sculpture but hasn’t so far this year.

Town Manager Phil Swanson said at Tuesday night’s Village Trustees meeting that he thought the ground was still frozen so as not to be badly impacted by use of the tractor. The snow comes from Chipper’s lot and elsewhere.
