Bird Buzz Buzz Bits

So…a few items of note to change-up your weekend, welcome March….Ides or No Ides.

*Singletons Market in Quechee is opening tomorrow. LOTS of activity and deliveries going on there today. Storm the doors, people (NOT really, we are NOT really suggesting this!). Pick up your smoked meats, grab a sandwich and gear up for your next adventure. Super exciting.

However, careful going in and out of the Route 4 Traffic….as always. What with the Quechee Bridge re-opened and a well-stocked market we are just twittering. This opening was scheduled a month or so back, but we’re sure the wait will be worth it.

*PHLOX Clothing re-opens tomorow in Woodstock on Elm Street, next to George’s Village Butcher (Is their chili PERFECT on chill day orr what??!! LOVE IT.

Oh, back to Sheri’s place: PHLOX. She’s come up from under Bentley’s…kinda’ like the groundhog…a sign of SPRING  (“CruiseWear” for YOU, dontcha’ know). We enjoyed walking by the PHLOX windows on the way to the Prince and the Pauper the other night,  checking out those incredible quasi-Victorian dresses in the window. Someone in Woodstock MUST have them.

P.S. New item on the P&P menu, yummy, perfect for March Madness or whatever ails you.

*If you’re just off work and have no plans to change out of your Carhartts (or sweats) or just wanna’ throw your tie to the wind, the wind is telling us that we could really use a burger from time to time with a really interesting beer…something simple and delicious and not too expensive in a fun, low-key atmosphere — You know, kinda’ like the Worthy Burger in South Royalton, which we sure wish were closer to Woodstock. Know what I mean? Watch this space…wouldn’t that be great? Do you think we’re Worthy?

And one more thing…HARTLAND DINER: Opening April 8th…Sneak peeks at logos, menus, vibe, humor, recipes. Find it all NOW at

Agree we could use a casual place in town to get a good burger, but also want to mention that lots of folks don’t seem to know about the beef sandwich that Alex offers at Pizza Chef. Now, it is not a burger as such, but it is terrific! It’s got some BBQ sauce, etc. The Super version is on the biggest bun that I have seen around here. When I am looking for a ground beef fix, I head over there.

From what I hear, we have a very able ambulance crew who do a wonderful job. I don’t think that you really have to search for talent, it is already there.
