These are the locations in the Northeast where “Light the Way to Justice” Candlelight Vigils will be held.

Woodstock Early Bird Kim Kakerback invites one and all to a candlelight vigil (bring your own candle) this Monday night between 7:00 – 7:30pm on the Woodstock Village Green in support of the freedom to marry for gay Americans. This issue will be taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court next week.

A variety of events like this are being held all across the country in all 50 states.

The vigil in Woodstock is the only one in Vermont (It is free, all are welcome, and participants should bring their own candles).

Here’s a link to the organization spearheading these actions:

(Woodstock Early Bird thinks everyone should receive the same respect, equality and benefits as every other human being in their work and private life so they might continue to positively contribute to society — no matter who they are or what their private decisions — so long as they adhere to the same standards and laws as every other citizen.

Mainly, we think there are a lot of decisions between people that do not effect us and that, frankly, are none of our business. Whether we, personally, agree with those decisions is not the point. The point is to support lives well-led by all. We think the laws of the land should help people live better lives, not be used to segregate, denigrate or restrict those who might be “different” by cultural or religious standards to which not everyone subscribes. )
