Hartford Kids Reporting Suspicious Van

The Hartford Police Department is investigating a few suspicious incidents that allegedly occurred this week.

On March 25, 2013 around 3PM it was reported that a female middle school student was walking along Hartford Avenue in Wilder when a school teacher observed what appeared to be three male subjects allegedly following her.

The teacher pulled over and began talking to the student as a deterrent.

It is alleged that the males then walked away and got into what is described as a grey van with no or unknown plates and left the area.

The Police Department then heard from a citizen that read on Facebook that there was another possible incident where a male student alleged that he felt he was being followed on Tuesday March 26th.

Today the Police Department received a late reported incident where it is alleged that at Kilowatt Field in Wilder a grey van was reported as having a group of male subjects in it and were allegedly watching juveniles and allegedly held up what appeared to be a weapon within the vehicle as if to show it to the juveniles.

The Police Department is working to corroborate all occurrences.

We are advising that if children have to walk without an adult that it is best to walk as a group.

Children and parents should communicate as to what routes the children are taking and during what timeframes.

Everyone is urged to be diligent and report anything that appears suspicious.
