Post Office Eagle Gets Back Its Gold…Flowers Return to Streets

post office eagleThe 05091 Post Office eagle was getting back its gold today, or should we say its gilt-colored paint, as workmen continued their gussying up of our P.O.  that began Sunday.

We also noticed many Woodstock Garden Club members planting geraniums and such into Central Street flower boxes. Much activity as hanging baskets put up today. Guess we are fully ready for the Memorial Day LAUNCH of  Woodstock’s summer tourism season.

A note that guided tours of the Billings-Rockefeller Mansion resume this weekend. Stop in at The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park Visitor Center for these park ranger-led visits. Reservations are recommended as tour size can be quite limited due to the small spaces and proximity to fine art, objects and personal effects that once belonged to the Frederick Billings and Mary and Laurance Rockefeller families.

Parking for the National Park is at the Billings Farm and Museum, but the National Park and the Billings Farm operate two separate visitor centers, with separate fees. A Park Ranger is usually available to direct visitors (and locals) in the right direction.
