Runners in the House! Covered Bridges Half-Marathon Sunday Morning

CBHMWoodstock Early Birds, we always love when our Covered Bridges Half-Marathon visitors join us here in Woodstock: Suddenly we feel invigorated by all the fit folks with zero body fat wandering around…We sit up straighter, tuck in our torsos, flex our calf muscles just a bit more, feel more comfortable discussing our ankle ailments and KT Tape in our flashy neon sneaks and certainly look oh-so-world-weary and knowledgeable as we overhear discussions about, you know, “Training at altitude in Uganda.”

What?!! You haven’t trained at altitude in Uganda? Not even Kenya? My God! How DO you expect to complete this race in the rolling, humid hills of Vermont? I mean you might hit 500 feet above sea level and whew, that altitude sickness starts to kick in..the air is thinner and so on. (Oh, it’s just our little “heartbreak hill” right next to the Taftsville Bridge.)

In any case, literally hundreds of folks, our neighbors and those from AFAR, will be at the race start line at Suicide Six tomorrow morning. Many will be carbo-loading at SSix this evening as well.

The Covered Bridges Half Marathon starts at 8:15am with first runners expected in to Quechee about an hour or so later and continuing with runners completing their races over the next two hours…or so.

Expect traffic delays throughout the morning. Quechee Polo Field in particular will be busy. Vermont Strong Running
