Vermont State Police: Apparent Murder-Suicide in Fairlee

Vermont State Police will be holding a press conference at 5pm at their Bradford Barracks concerning an apparent murder-suicide in Fairlee. Here is the preliminary press release issued earlier today:

Homicide, Suicide Investigation in Fairlee, Vermont

Fairlee, VT – 08/13/13 – Today, August 13 at approximately 7:45AM the Vermont State Police received a call from a resident at 14 Sunrise Drive in Fairlee, Vermont reporting possible murder-suicide. Members from the Vermont State Police responded immediately, along with rescue personnel. Upon arrival troopers confirmed the deceased within the residence as a 43 year old female, along with a 45 year old male.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police started an immediate investigation and the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team will process the scene. The decedents will be transported to the Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The identity of the decedents are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
