The New York Times Discovers “Squirrel Power”

We, here in Vermont, are well-versed in the power of the squirrel over our power grid, as you read about here just a few weeks ago when hundreds lost power after a squirrel messed with our local Green Mountain Power transformer in Woodstock.

Now, it appears, judging from this opinion essay in today’s New York Times — (the link sent to us by several Woodstock Early Squirrels) — we are not alone.  It is a national phenomenon of “squirrel power” to mess with our grid. SOME say the world will end in fire. Some say ice. Some say coordinated kamikaze attacks on the power grid by squirrels.At least, some have been saying that to me, when they find out I’ve spent the summer keeping track of power outages caused by squirrels.
